Kaiwarua Station Backcountry Fishing Adventure (Catch & Release)

Backcountry Fishing Adventure Kaiwarua Station is situated in the heart of the beautiful South Island, New Zealand. This privately owned high country station boasts two crystal clear rivers, containing wild Brown trout. This is truly an angler’s paradise.

Kaiwarua Station features over 20 km of river on private land, in a mixture of wilderness rivers, untouched mountain streams and still pockets, each offering its own challenge. Access is on foot or by 4WD vehicle. Pickups and drop offs can be arranged.

The brown trout here are elusive, great fighters and well conditioned. To maintain this breeding river we have a catch and release. Many visitors combine trout fishing with other hunting activities. New Zealand Trout Fishing
Brown trout were first introduced in 1867 from Tasmania, are the predominate species and are widely distributed throughout the South Island of New Zealand. Fishing on these rivers that run through private land, offer rare opportunities to the discerning fisherman.
New Zealand is renowned for its crystal clear water and the waters at Kaiwarua Station are no exception. These wild fish will spook easily so need to be stalked with care. The fishing is sight fishing, using dry flies & nymphs casting upstream to your sighted fish.
